Gorkha-Aarughat road blocked for traffic

GORKHA, July 18: The Benighat-Arughat road in Gorkha has been blocked after the flood damaged a diversion made over the Jadul river.

GORKHA, July 18: The Benighat-Arughat road in Gorkha has been blocked after the flood damaged a diversion made over the Jadul river.


The Jadul river diversion connecting Bhimsen Thapa Rural Municipality-7 and Sahid Lakhan Rural Municipality-9 was washed away bringing traffic to a halt, said Ward Chair of Bhimsen Thapa Rural Municipality-7, Narayan Shrestha.

The diversion was built last year. The wall on the right and left side of the diversion bridge has been swept away by flood water. 


As a result, traffic has come to a complete standstill on the Benighat-Arughat road section. This has also affected passenger vehicles that regularly operate from Kathmandu to Arkhet through Benighat, ward chair Shrestha said.
