Gorkha Brewery wins indoor cricket

KATHMANDU, Sept 11: Gorkha Brewery won the title of Coca Cola Indoor Corporate Cup cricket tournament on Sunday defeating Sipradi in the final held at the Velocity Arena in Ratopool, Kathmandu.

KATHMANDU, Sept 11: Gorkha Brewery won the title of Coca Cola Indoor Corporate Cup cricket tournament on Sunday defeating Sipradi in the final held at the Velocity Arena in Ratopool, Kathmandu. 



Gorkha Brewery overcame Sipradi by three wickets in the match played for 12 overs per side. Choosing to bat first, Sipradi made 91/6 in the allotted overs. In the run chase, Gorkha Brewery managed 92 run in the last ball for the loss of four wickets. 



Biswas Manandhar and Bijay Rawal came up with vital contribution in Gorkha Brewery's victory. Biswas smashed 38 runs off 26 balls and Bijay Scored 30 off 14 deliveries.  Mukesh Sigdel and Chiran Thapa of Sipradi pocketed one wicket each.



Earlier, Chiran Thapa scored 24 off 26 for Sipradi and Birendra Mandal quickfired 19 off 10 deliveries. Prashant Dhakal claimed two wickets for Gorkha Brewery. 



In the semifinals played on the same day, Gorkha Brewery edged past F1 Soft by six runs and Sipradi pulled a convincing 56-run win over Kantipur Television. 



Shawant Sijapati of runner-up Sipradi took home the man-of-the-series and best bowler award while best batsman award went to Roshan Shrestha of Kantipur. 



National cricket team skipper Paras Khadka distributed prizes to the winners.
