Gorkha extends lockdown for another week

GORKHA, Aug 23: The COVID-19 Crisis Management Committee (CCMC), Gorkha, has decided to extend the ongoing lockdown in the district for another seven days.

GORKHA, Aug 23: The COVID-19 Crisis Management Committee (CCMC), Gorkha, has decided to extend the ongoing lockdown in the district for another seven days.


Chief District Officer (CDO) Tirtharaj Bhattarai said that the lockdown has been extended until August 30 in view of the elevated risk of the novel coronavirus disease in the neighboring cities including Kathmandu, Chitwan and Pokhara.

A meeting of the CCMC on Sunday took the decision to extend the ongoing lockdown which is due to end on Monday.  


According to the CDO, all services and activities other than the financial institutions, government offices, and essential transportation and food supplies have been restricted during the lockdown period.


The meeting also decided to apply stricter vigilance at the major entry points to the district. Those returning to the district will be mandatorily kept at home quarantine.


Similarly, the farmers will be distributed chemical fertilizers in coordination with the local governments even during the lockdown, said CDO Bhattarai.
