Gorkha to get over half dozen bridges soon

GORKHA, Jan 6: Seven motorable bridges are being constructed in Gorkha district. While the construction of five of those bridges is underway, two others are near completion. The long-awaited bridges are being taken care of by the provincial government.

GORKHA, Jan 6: Seven motorable bridges are being constructed in Gorkha district. While the construction of five of those bridges is underway, two others are near completion. The long-awaited bridges are being taken care of by the provincial government. 


"The work is going on. Two of the seven bridges will get the final touch soon," said Ram Parajuli, chief of the Provincial Infrastructure Development Office, Lamjung. "Five others will come into operation in six months," he added.

The concrete bridge at Bhusunde is in the final stage of completion. Similarly, the bridge over Daraudi river is almost 75 percent complete. The contractor of both the bridges is JV Construction Company. 


Other bridges are being constructed over Khar river, Ludi river and Lakham river, among others. According to Parajuli, the issue of land acquisition is to be sorted out at some places. 


"However, things are going smoothly," he said.


Minister for Physical Infrastructure of Gandaki Province, Ram Sharan Basnet, has directed the concerned department to get the work done on time. He was in Gorkha recently for inspection of the bridges.
