Govt directs to shut down all illegally operated crusher plants

KATHMANDU, Jan 5: The government has directed all District Administration Offices (DAOs) to shut down the crusher industries that are not registered or are operating without renewal of their license.

KATHMANDU, Jan 5: The government has directed all District Administration Offices (DAOs) to shut down the crusher industries that are not registered or are operating without renewal of their license. 


The Home Ministry issued the directives on Wednesday in a circular sent to the DAOs of all 77 districts to shut down the industries operating illegally, said Spokesperson at the Home Ministry, Phanindra Mani Pokharel.

The circular was issued in order to regulate extraction of stone, pebble and sand in line with the Environment Conservation Act, 2076 BS and implement the court’s order in this regard, according to the Home Ministry. 


The local administration would shut down crusher industries which are in operation without registration and renewal as well as those involved in extracting pebbles and sand illegally, shared Spokesperson Pokharel.
