The construction of the 18-km stretch of road from Betauna to Biratnagar has been stalled for a month. After the construction was stopped, the Itahari office sent a written letter to the builders. If they do not proceed with the work immediately to complete the construction, the builders will face action according to the terms of the Public Procurement Act, regulations and contract agreements.

People's representatives have been showing interest in the halted construction of that section of postal highway since the past. Now, after the construction company stopped the work, the federal parliament members, provincial assembly members and five local level people's representatives held a press conference on Friday.

There are four districts namely Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari and Saptari in the scope of the Itahari scheme under the Directorate of Postal Highways. Out of the five contracts awarded in the 44 km section of Jamma, 20 km of the road has been black-topped so far.
