Issuing a public notice on Saturday, the Department of Immigration (DoI) called off its own decision barely 24 hours after the decision was made on Friday. “The notice issued by the Department on December 17, 2021 in relation to travel restriction has been suspended until further notice. The travel advisories issued on September 24 and December 2, however, are in place,” reads the notice.
Earlier, the government had made at least a seven-day quarantine mandatory for travelers arriving from 67 different countries, mainly from European and African countries, Malaysia and the US in the wake of the growing menace of Omicron variant of coronavirus. The visitors were asked to manage their own expenses to stay in hotel quarantine.
