With this decision, the local level polls will be conducted in three phases – the first phase of local level elections were held in Province 3, 4 and 6 on May 14, Province 1, 5 and 7 on June 28 while the third round of elections will be held on September 18 in Province 2.

The election results of the first round of elections have already come out except that of Bharatpur Metropolitan City.

Earlier, the government had reached a deal with Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) to postpone the elections in Province 2. However, the Elections Commission (EC) has not agreed to this decision.

With this decision, the government has claimed that the RJPN will take part in the local level elections on June 28.
