Govt to provide Rs 1 million to families of deceased
KATHMANDU, March 8: The government on Wednesday decided to provide Rs 1 million to each of the families of deceased in the police firing in Saptari.

Four persons lost their lives when police used power to avoid clash between the cadres of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) and CPN-UML cadres attending party's Mechi-Mahakali National Campaign in Saptari on Monday.
The Cabinet meeting on Wednesday evening took the decision to provide the reparation to each of the families of the deceased.
Likewise, the cabinet decided to bear all the medical expenses for the individuals, who sustained injuries in the police firing.
Meanwhile, the cabinet also took a decision to form an Investigation Commission headed by a former justice at the Supreme Court to probe the Saptari incident.
Minister for Local Development Hitaraj Pandey said that the chairman and members of the commission will be appointed by the Ministry of Home Affairs after consulting the Prime Minister. According to Pandey, the commission would submit its report within 15 days after beginning the task.
