Govt to provide free electricity of 50 units per month in rainy season and 30 units in winter

KATHMANDU, May 19: The government has announced that it will ensure access to energy for all citizens.


President Ram Chandra Paudel said this while announcing the government's policies and programs for fiscal year 2023/24 on Friday.

According to him, the government will provide electricity to all households within two years. The government has announced plans to provide free electricity to the poor as well.


Similarly, the government is going to provide free electricity to consumers who consume up to 50 units per month in the rainy season and 30 units in the winter season. The government has announced that cooking gas will be gradually replaced by electricity.


Likewise, the government is going to expand the underground power distribution system in major cities of the country. The government is going to include all types of renewable energy in the national transmission line. President Paudel said that integrated management and conservation activities based on the river system in Chure, Terai and Madhesh will be carried out more effectively.
