CHITWAN, April 5: The government will proceed with the stalled Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium. A Cabinet meeting on Monday decided to resume the construction of the project left halfway for want of budget.

The Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation run by the comedian couple, Sitaram Kattel and Kunjana Ghimire, with which Bharatpur Metropolitan City reached an agreement for the project, took its hands off the project after it could not clear a large amount of money in arrears. As a result, the project has remained halted for a long time.

The project would resume with the Cabinet's decision, said the Mayor Renu Dahal of Bharatpur metropolis. "It took time to follow the due procedure as big amounts of money have remained to be paid. Now, the project will proceed," she said.

Earlier, the Foundation urged the metropolis to take the ownership of the project after failure to clear the arrears. There remains over Rs 184 million to be paid, said the Foundation's chair Kattel.
