The meeting of Commerce, Industries and Consumer Welfare Relation Committee held in  the presence of the Minister for Supplies Deepak Bohara, also directed the government to prepare a long-term plan for need and supply of petroleum products.

"The government should ensure smooth supply of petroleum products, including LP gas. It should also make market monitoring smooth to curb foul play in the market," the parliamentarians said. They also asked the government to uphold national interest and keep the possibility of importing petroleum products from countries other than India open.

"The proposed petroleum pipeline should also be in the national interest," the parliamentarians said, directing the government to improve the condition of loss making public entities, and including consumer rights in school curriculum, among others.

The committee also directed the Ministry of Supplies to allow petroleum entrepreneurs to buy LP gas bullets.
