Guitarist Nishant Acharya dies in plane crash

KATHMANDU, Jan 16:  Guitarist and composer Nishant Acharya, who is popular among the youngsters of Nepal, died in Sunday’s plane crash, leaving his admirers in a state of shock.

KATHMANDU, Jan 16:  Guitarist and composer Nishant Acharya, who is popular among the youngsters of Nepal, died in Sunday’s plane crash, leaving his admirers in a state of shock.


Acharya has his own band ‘Kesix Before’. He used to frequently upload guitar tutorials on his social media inspiring many to play guitar. His fans and musicians including rock singers Robin Tamang, Abhaya Subba, and rock band Monkey Temple, The Soul Nepal have paid tributes to Acharya through various social media platforms such as  youtube and Titkok.

Paying tribute to Nishant, rock singer Tamang wrote, “After losing loved ones in the plane crash, today there was a wave of pain and memories. Heartfelt condolences to all the families who have lost their loved ones. May your soul rest in peace Nishant Acharya Bhai, Deepest condolences to the family and friends.”


Nishant Acharya, was among the 72 people on board the ill-fated ATR 72-500 series aircraft of Yeti Airlines with call sign 9N-ANC that crashed into the Seti River gorge moments before landing in Pokhara. The flight that took off from Kathmandu at 10:33 am on Sunday was scheduled to land at Pokhara International Airport at 10:58 am.


Among the 72 people on board, 68 were passengers and four were crew members. The bodies of 70 people have been recovered from the crash site so far while two are still missing.
