DHADING, April 29: There are hardly any female aspirants for the major posts of two municipalities and 11 rural municipalities of Dhading for the upcoming local elections.

While small political parties are facing a tough time finding candidates, the major political parties have enough candidates though all of them are males. It has been found that there are no females showing interest in filing their candidacy from CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) for the major posts. According to members of Nepali Congress (NC), there are two female aspirants from Nepali Congress but they are less likely to get tickets.

Similarly, there are zero female aspirants from Naya Shakti Nepal and Rastriya Prajantantra Party (RPP) for the major posts. As the government has made it compulsory for the party to include at least one woman for the post of mayor or deputy mayor, most of the political parties have chosen women for the post of deputy mayor.

The situation is no different for the key posts of the rural municipalities. Finding female candidates who will be representing the wards has been quite challenging for the political parties. No political party in Dhading has officially fielded its candidates for any post yet. The high number of aspirants has made it difficult for the parties to choose candidates.
