Health and education should be taken as service, not as business: Mayor Shah

KATHMANDU, June 11: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah has emphasized the need to take education and health as services and not as money-making businesses. Shah made the remarks during the course of inspecting the newly-constructed building of Chhetrapati Free Clinic and monitoring the services provided by it.

KATHMANDU, June 11: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah has emphasized the need to take education and health as services and not as money-making businesses. Shah made the remarks during the course of inspecting the newly-constructed building of Chhetrapati Free Clinic and monitoring the services provided by it.


Mayor Shah also directed the clinic to guarantee free treatment to the helpless, poor and financially deprived people. He said that education and health is the primary agenda of the government and health services should be taken purely as a service and an opportunity to make money.

Stating that KMC has shown high interest in health and sanitation, Mayor Shah also expressed his commitment to cooperate with those who come up with new plans, advice and suggestions for this. Meanwhile, the clinic has stated that no sick person has ever returned home without treatment.
