KATHMANDU, April 20: With the vision of proper health facility in all the level, the Ministry of Health has started the implementation of highly ambitious Unified Health Infrastructure Development Project.
As the country is about to adopt the Federal System, the Ministry of Health has forwarded the health program ensuring the basic health rights of the people from all level of the country.
Minister for Health Gagan Thapa said that the project will jointly address the issues related with the basic infrastructure, medical human resources, machines and services.
According to the project, each ward will have one health post; primary hospital will be constructed and be categorized in A, B and C grade depending on the distribution of the population in the rural municipalities and primary hospital in the municipalities.
Besides these, each sub-metropolitan cities and state will have at least one public medical college with specialists and on the basis of demand the Ministry will extend the specialized hospitals.
There are 35 thousand one hundred 32 medical workers including two thousand 38 doctors. After the completion of the project the number will soar to 61 thousand 600. With this, in seven years, the Ministry has predicted 30 thousand nurses, 22 thousand medical workers, two thousand 8 hundred MBBS doctors and three thousand three hundred specialists.
