KATHMANDU, Jan 17: The hearing on the writ petitions filed against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) resumed at the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday afternoon.
Overruling the demand for a full bench by the petitioners, the apex court had decided to conduct hearing on the writ petitions by the Constitutional Bench stating that the case of house dissolution is a serious case of judicial interpretation.
Hearing on HoR dissolution writ petitions to continue today
The five-member Constitutional Bench chaired by Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana includes justices Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, Tej Bahadur KC, Anil Kumar Sinha and Sapana Pradan Malla as members.
The bench is to decide the fate of the dissolved HoR.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari dissolved the lower house of parliament and announced midterm elections at the recommendation of PM KP Sharma Oli on December 20, last year.
