Hetauda Cement stops production from today

KATHMANDU, March 24: Government-owned Hetauda Cement Industry has stopped production from today.


According to the industry’s management, the production of the industry has been stopped from today due to a technical problem in the machine that ignites the fire for cement production. Navin Kumar Karn, deputy general manager of the industry, said that the repair process of the machine has started and it will be repaired and restarted in the next one week. He said that because the machines and equipment of the industry are very old, they break down and technical problems occur.

In the past, there was a problem of coal needed by the factory, but now there is no problem of coal, he said, adding that coal is being imported from foreign countries through bidding.  


On a daily basis, 110 tons of coal is being consumed by the factory. In addition, the management of the factory has informed that the work of packing and selling the cement in the warehouse of Hetauda Cement Industry is going on. At present, about 14,000 sacks of cement are being produced daily by the factory.  


It is said that there is sufficient supply of limestone to the factory which was established in 2032BS by the Government of Nepal It started producing cement commercially from 2043 BS. Currently, it employs about 300 people.
