Health Secretary Dr Roshan Pokhrel and Dharan Sub-Metropolis Mayor Tilak Rai are other members of the Committee formed on October 22. The Committee was given 21 days to assess the situation and suggest ways to resolve the issues.

Talking to media persons after submitting the report to Prime Minister Deuba, Minister Khatiwada said he is hopeful that the BPKIHS Senate that will convene soon will implement suggestions to find a way out to resolve the stalemate seen there. “The Committee was formed after six Senate members demanded an investigation into the BPKIHS issues,” he said.

In the course of the preparation of the report, the team held consultations with the agitating parties, BPKIHS staff, teachers, students, local representatives, representatives of political parties, and other bodies concerned.  Various reports submitted by similar committees formed in the past were also studied in the course of the preparation of the report, the Minister said.

The team assessed the alleged irregularities at BPKIHS, months-long doctors’ agitation, and the demand for removing its office bearers. Doctors at the BPKIHS have been staging protests for over four months demanding an investigation into corruption and irregularities in the organization.
