Himalaya Airlines to resume Beijing flights after a hiatus of three years

KATHMANDU, June 12: Himalaya Airlines is all set to resume Kathmandu-Beijing flights after three years.


An employee of the company said that Himalaya Airlines is preparing to make one flight a week to this destination starting from June 24.

"We will initially conduct one flight a week and gradually increase the number of flights according to the demand of passengers,” he said, adding, "At present, we are flying to Kunming and Beijing. We will gradually start flights to other destinations in China.” According to him, the flight to Beijing will be held on Saturday.


The company had been operating regular flights to five cities in China including Beijing, Chongqing, Changsha, Nanning, and Goyang before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. As the infection came under control, the company resumed flights to Kunming from May last year.


The company had been flying chartered cargo planes in China throughout the pandemic period. Even now, the company has been flying chartered cargo flights to destinations other than Kunming.


At present, Himalaya Airlines has been flying regularly to various destinations including Dubai, Malaysia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, China via four aircraft including three 180-seat capacity Airbus A320-214 and one 128-seat capacity Airbus A319-115 series.
