Home minister concerned over Nepalis trapped in Israel

KATHMANDU, Oct 8: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha has expressed concern over the situation of Nepalis trapped in Israel.


Home Minister Shrestha has expressed his concern over the situation of Nepalis in Israel who are trapped due to the ongoing conflict between the Palestinian militant group (Hamas) and the Israeli army since Saturday morning.

Today, he sought information about the situation of and rescue efforts for Nepali nationals who are trapped in the conflict from the Nepali Ambassador to Israel, Kanta Rijal, and Israeli Ambassador to Nepal, Hanan Godar.


Following reports that some Nepalis were injured and held hostage in the Gaza area, Home Minister Shrestha became concerned about the food, accommodation, treatment and security of all Nepalis in Israel.


Nepali Ambassador Rijal said that work is being done to take the details of injured and trapped Nepalis in the war zone and to initiate treatment and rescue. Likewise, Israeli Ambassador Godar said that serious caution will be taken to prevent the effect of war on Nepalis.
