Home Minister Khand directs authorities to take measures to prevent losses due to flood in Koshi River

KATHMANDU, July 2: Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has directed the subordinate bodies to make efforts so as to prevent possible losses at Lahure gorge of Dumrekot in Belaka Municipality-8, Udayapur, which is being eroded by the Koshi River.

KATHMANDU, July 2: Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has directed the subordinate bodies to make efforts so as to prevent possible losses at Lahure gorge of Dumrekot in Belaka Municipality-8, Udayapur, which is being eroded by the Koshi River.

Minister Khand on a telephonic conversation on Friday directed Home Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey, Irrigation Secretary Sagar Rai, Inspector General of Police Dhiraj Pratap Singh, Inspector General, Armed Police Force Raju Aryal, Director General of the Department of Water Resources and Irrigation Sushil Chandra Aryal and Chief of the APF office, Province 1 Deputy Inspector General Kamal Giri among others to do the needful in this regard at the earliest, according to the Minister's Secretariat.


Following the direction, preventive measures like the construction of embankments with the use of gabion walls in the affected area had been taken in collaboration with the Nepal Police, APF and local people, said Chief District Officer, Udayapur, Birendra Kumar Yadav.
