Home Minister Lamichhane instructs CIB to investigate Nirmala Kurmi's murder

KATHMANDU, Jan 14: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has said that he has instructed the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police to investigate the incident of Nirmala Kurmi.

KATHMANDU, Jan 14: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has said that he has instructed the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police to investigate the incident of Nirmala Kurmi.


His press coordinator Navraj Pandey told Republica that Home Minister Lamichhane gave this information after meeting Rubi Khan, who is agitating for justice for Kurmi at Maitighar Mandala on Saturday.

On Friday, they held a meeting with a Spokesperson at the Ministry of Home Affairs Fanindra Mani Pokharel and handed over a memorandum. After receiving the memorandum, Home Minister Lamichhane went to Maitighar to meet Rubi Khan who is protesting for justice for Nirmala Kurmi.


Kurmi of Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City-17 was missing since January 2019 while her husband Mahlu Kurmi died in 2005. After that Nirmala had two sons Ram Sagar and Suresh. Ram Sagar and Suresh also died mysteriously within 10 days of each other in November 2009.


Saturday is the 17th day of protest held in Kathmandu by Rubi Khan and others. They lit lanterns and reached Maitighar with a procession from Kalanki. They are demanding justice for Nirmala Kurmi, who was kidnapped and subsequently murdered.
