KATHMANDU, July 4: Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa has clarified that the government declared a prohibited area to various security sensitive areas not to affect the people's activities. 


Speaking at the second meeting of the National Assembly here today, Minister Thapa reiterated the government's commitment towards good governance and consolidation of government.

He assured that the government would move ahead following the court's decisions and would forward the process to introduce Bills on the basis of the pacts made in the past. 

Furthermore, the Home Minister spoke of the need to launch social awareness drive to end the social ill practices like Chaupadi. 


"The rain-triggered landslides and flooding have incurred loss of lives and properties," he said, adding that around two dozen of people lost their lives due to the natural disasters since June 29 and dozen more have gone missing." 


Home Minister Thapa stated that the government was aware and vigilant to address the voices concerning the relief and rescue operation to be launched in the disaster-hit areas. 


According to him, the government was concerned about minimizing the losses incurred due to the natural calamities, adding that the homework was underway to address the issues relating to the distribution of relief to the conflict-survivors. RSS
