KATHMANDU, August 21: The House of Representatives meeting scheduled for today has been postponed.
According to the Parliament Secretariat, the meeting was postponed because the members of parliament had to be busy with programs such as tributes and funerals of senior leader of Nepali Congress(NC) and a lawmaker Pradip Giri, who passed away Saturday night.

Giri, a prominent figure of Nepal's contemporary politics, became active in politics after 2021 BS. Currently a member of the House of Representatives, he was elected from Siraha-5 in the parliamentary elections of 2051 BS and was elected as a member of the Constituent Assembly in the Constituent Assembly election of 2064 BS. He was also involved in the responsibility of drafting the constitution.
Giri was elected as a member of the House of Representatives in the 2074 BS election from Siraha-1. He was born in the year 2004 BS in Bastipur of Siraha to father Mitralal Giri and mother Punyaprabha Giri.
