Host Russia keeps the World Cup legacy, thrashes Saudi 5-0

KATHMANDU, June 14: Retaining the legacy of winning the first match, the host country Russia has defeated Saudi Arabia by 5-0 in the FIFA World Cup 2018 at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on Thursday.

KATHMANDU, June 14: Retaining the legacy of winning the first match, the host country Russia has defeated Saudi Arabia by 5-0 in the FIFA World Cup 2018 at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on Thursday.


The first match of FIFA World Cup 2018 was dominated by host Russia in which Yury Gazinskiy gave a lead to his team on the 12 minute with a header. Denis Cheryshev scored a brace on 43’ and 91’ to make the score  4-0.

The other scorer of the match was Artem Dzyuba when he came from the bench to make it 3-0. Golovin completed the rout on 94’ by utilizing a free kick just outside the box.



This takes host Russia to the top of the table, at least temporarily, as Uruguay takes on Egypt at the Ekaterinburg Arena, Yekaterinburg on Friday at  5:45 pm.
