House Committee monitors fair price shops

Kathmandu, Sept 27: A taskforce formed under Sustainable Development and Good-Governance Committee of the National Assembly has monitored Salt Trading and Fair Price Shops which are being operated in the capital from September 9 to October 4 targeting Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals.

Kathmandu, Sept 27: A taskforce formed under Sustainable Development and Good-Governance Committee of the National Assembly has monitored Salt Trading and Fair Price Shops which are being operated in the capital from September 9 to October 4 targeting Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals.


A team comprising lawmakers-- Kali Bahadur Malla, Bimala Rai Poudel and Pramila Kumari and Committee Secretary Nirmala Devi Lamichhane Wasti carried out the monitoring of the shops.

The taskforce had monitored the fair price shops run at Bagbazaar and Tukucha in the Kathmandu Valley.


During the monitoring, it was found that the fair price shops had an adequate amount of daily essentials; arranged discount up to 30 per cent in the sale. However, the goat market at Tukucha was found unmanaged.
