KATHMANDU, June 16: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) has unanimously approved the name of Hari Krishna Karki for the position of Chief Justice (CJ).
The PHC endorsed Karki's name as the new head of the judiciary after two days of hearing. Karki, who presented his work plan and qualifications on Thursday, had a question and answer session with the PHC at 8AM on Friday.
House may forward impeachment motion to panel Thursday
The PHC meeting unanimously approved his name following the hearing. Karki will become the new Chief Justice after President Ram Chandra Paudel administers him the oath of office and secrecy.
Karki, who has been serving as the Acting Chief Justice for the past eight months, will retire from his post on August 5.
