Huawei Thailand bags 'Special Prime Minister Award for Digital International Corporation of the Year 2020'

KATHMANDU, March 14: Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Tuesday awarded Huawei Technologies (Thailand) the Special Prime Minister Award for Digital International Corporation of the Year 2020.

KATHMANDU, March 14: Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Tuesday awarded Huawei Technologies (Thailand) the Special Prime Minister Award for Digital International Corporation of the Year 2020.


The prime minister congratulated Huawei executives and asked them to continue the company's mission to drive Thailand forward, according to a press release issued by Huawei.


Prayut said his government attached importance to the development of 5G and AI systems, and expressed hope that today's success will create business opportunities for the country.


The award recognizes Huawei Thailand for its valuable support and outstanding contributions to the Thai society since its establishment in the kingdom 21 years ago and its efforts to support digital transformation, according to a press release issued by Huawei. It is the only international company to receive this award.

Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin, president of the Digital Economy Promotion Agency, said at the awarding ceremony, "Our collaboration with Huawei contributes to the country's development. It's also crucial when technology is used for emergency responses to natural disasters, security threats, health crises and others."


Nuttapon said that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Huawei applied AI-assisted solutions and 5G technology to support the country's medical teams at hospitals.


He said Thailand's first 5G Ecosystem Innovation Center (5G EIC) was launched with the help of Huawei and the 5G technology gives Thailand an edge in enhancing its business competitiveness.


Nuttapon said Thailand is grateful for Huawei's goodwill and continuous efforts to help drive the digital economy.


Abel Deng, CEO of Huawei Thailand, said, "Huawei values long-term partnership and is committed to collaborating with customers and partners to help keep Thailand at the forefront of the digital age."
