KATHMANDU, Sept 16: CPN-UML Vice Chairman Dr Bhim Bahadur Rawal has said that he is in politics for the service of the country and the people. On his way to his home district Achham, he met party leaders and cadres today and said he did not do politics for personal interests and positions.

He said, “I am not a person who does politics for self-interest. I am saddened by the split of the party but I am working with the party leadership to fully implement the ten-point agreement to unite the CPN-UML.” He said that even though his personality was developed while doing politics, he did politics by winning over the people of the country.

He also said that if the country and the people are forgotten while practicing politics, it will never work. He said, “The accusations that I played part in splitting the party are wrong. I have moved toward emphasizing party unity instead of splitting the party.” He also denied that he was preparing the statute of Madhav Kumar Nepal's party and said that there was no truth in the rumor.

Leader Rawal also urged all the leaders, cadres and well-wishers who have expressed concern for the UML in the current complex situation to give a message of unity to all to make the party unity process even stronger. He said that the ordinance on party split brought by the present government could split any party any time and the splitting of the parties would weaken democracy.
