KAILALI, March 14: Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center), Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that there is no need to protest against Prakash Saput's latest song ‘Pir’.

Speaking to media persons at the local airport, Chairman Dahal, who arrived in Dhangadhi on Monday morning for the party's training program, said, “People make songs, poems, plays according to their experience. There might be a debate but I believe we should not be impulsive just because someone spoke about one of the parts of the Maoist movement.”

Dahal said that he had only seen bits and parts of Prakash Saput’s recent song in the media. He said, "I have not seen the whole presentation of Prakash Saput."

Talking to reporters, Dahal said, “It would be wrong to look at the Maoist war, its leaders and its cadres from one side only. It has many dimensions. There are many aspects, there are many mysteries. Why did the leadership sign the peace agreement? What happened to the management of the cadres? What happened? And what did not? Even after 50 years, the pros and cons will continue to be debated.”

He said that he had seen the lives of the combatants participating in the People's War whether it was during his visit to Qatar or Malaysia. "Every time I met former combatants in a foreign country, they would tell me they were there if we felt uncomfortable in any way.”

“We have to come to peace for the country. With inclusion, there is a side that is proud that all the oppressed classes have got some rights,” he added.

Dahal also reminded that women have set a record of heroism in the People's War. “Women also have the heroism and the record they set during the People's War yesterday. There are also aspects of repression on the part of the state," he said. “I don't think anyone should be provoked by this issue now. Pros/ cons, arguments/ debates should be taken as natural.”
