ICC Women’s Cup Qualifying Series:  Thailand beats Nepal by 1 wicket

KATHMANDU, Oct 14: Thailand has defeated Nepal by one wicket at the ninth match of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifying Series Asia Region played at Hong Kong Cricket Club on Friday.

KATHMANDU, Oct 14: Thailand has defeated Nepal by one wicket at the ninth match of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifying Series Asia Region played at Hong Kong Cricket Club on Friday.


Thailand reached the target of 109 runs set by Nepal in 18.4 overs, losing nine wickets.


Right-hand bat Chanida Sutthiruang top-scored with 27 runs studded with one six and two fours off 25 balls and remained not out.

Similarly, Nattakan Chantam hit 23 runs including one six and three fours off 11 balls while Sirintra Saengsakaorat contributed16 runs off 18 balls.


In reply, Nepal’s player right-arm-off break Karuna Bhandari took highest four wickets conceding 15 runs in  four overs, Rubina Chhetry claimed two wickets giving away 34 runs, Sita Rana Magar snatched away 2 wickets giving away 14 runs while Nirmala Kumari Shahi took one  wicket.


Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss, Nepal had made 108 runs losing four wickets in the allotted 20-over-match.


Nary Thapa made a highest score of 32 runs including one six and three fours off 25 balls and remained not out. Similarly, Indu Verma hit 26 runs including three fours in 36 balls while Nirmala Kumari Shahi contributed 20 runs off 20 balls.


Restricting Nepal to paltry 108 runs, Thai cricketers Chanida Sutthiruang and Suleeporn Laomi took two and one wickets respectively.
