KATHMANDU, August 9: The government has begun administering the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccines to elderlies who were waiting for the second dose of the vaccines for months.

This came shortly after Nepal received around 800,000 doses of Japan-made AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines and 230,000 doses of AstraZeneca Covishield vaccines from Bhutan.

They were waiting for the second dose of the vaccine for months as Serum Institute, India, expressed inability to supply the vaccines even as Nepal was due to receive 1 million doses of the vaccine as per the procurement deal reached with it.

Here are some pictures taken by Republica Photojournalist Dipesh Shrestha at Civil Hospital in the capital on Monday.
