Sagar Giri has been a wildlife photographer for nearly four years now and although he isn’t a full time photographer, he is passionate about what he does. Having grown up with his zoologist father, Giri spent a large chunk of his childhood outdoors.
He spent hours observing nature and enjoyed it too. And he read all there was to read about the animal kingdom.

“I also spent a great deal of time watching documentaries on Nat Geo and Animal Planet. I remember wondering back then why Nepal was never featured in these documentaries. The way I saw it, very few countries had what Nepal had in terms of natural abundance,” he says.
So Giri decided that he would fill the gap himself and has been taking pictures ever since he made the decision to do so. A collection of his pictures (35 in total) will be up for display at Photo Nepal, an initiative of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) to promote photographers and the Nepali essence to a wider mass. The pictures are a collection amassed over two and a half years and they are a result of Giri’s travels to several national conservatories in Nepal. Shuklaphanta, Bardia National Park, Annapurna Conservation Area are some of the featured conservatories.
Sudan Subedi of NTB shares that the board has monitored Giri’s works very closely and believe him to be one of the best in wildlife photography. “In the four years we have held Photo Nepal, this is our first exclusively wildlife focused exhibition. We’re very excited to share Giri’s work with the public,” he says. The exhibition will begin on April 5 (today) and go on till April 11, 2019.
