Independent candidate Hamal elected as mayor of Dhangadhi

DHANGADI, May 22: Independent candidate Gopal Hamal has been elected the mayor of Dhangadhi Sub-metropolis. He won with 26,865 votes while his closest rival, the common candidate of ruling alliance, Nrip Bahadur Oda of the Nepali Congress, received 14,817 votes.

DHANGADI, May 22: Independent candidate Gopal Hamal has been elected the mayor of Dhangadhi Sub-metropolis. He won with 26,865 votes while his closest rival, the common candidate of ruling alliance, Nrip Bahadur Oda of the Nepali Congress, received 14,817 votes. 


Likewise, Rana Bahadur Chand of the CPN-UML garnered 9,115 votes to become third in the race, according to the Office of the Chief Returning Officer.

Meanwhile, CPN-UML candidate Kandakala Rana has been elected as the deputy mayor. She received 15,479 votes while CPN (Maoist Center) candidate Shanti Adhikari received 12,670 votes. 


A total of 63,647 votes were cast in the sub-metropolitan city elections, which has 93,151 eligible voters.
