India's PM Modi to lead 30,000 participants on "International Yoga Day"

NEW DELHI, June 8: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the main event on the occasion of "International Yoga Day" on June 21 this year at Ranchi, the capital city of the eastern state of Jharkhand, an official statement said on Saturday.

NEW DELHI, June 8: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the main event on the occasion of "International Yoga Day" on June 21 this year at Ranchi, the capital city of the eastern state of Jharkhand, an official statement said on Saturday.


After its inception in 2015, this would be the fifth "International Yoga Day" celebrated in more than 180 countries and regions. Every year Modi himself takes part in performing yoga exercises along with thousands of people.

Yoga exercises are performed by millions of people across the globe on this day, even as arrangements are made for special sessions at Indian embassies, high commissions, and other places.


Similar events are held in almost every city and town in India.
