KATHMANDU, Sept 20: India has announced to resume export of Covishield vaccines from next month.
India's Union Minister for Health Mansukh Mandaviya said on Monday that India will resume export and donations of surplus vaccines from October. He also announced that India would give the first priority to neighboring countries as it resumes supply of the vaccines as a part of its 'Vaccine Maitri' initiative.

India, the world's biggest maker of vaccines overall, stopped vaccine exports in April to focus on inoculating its own population as infections exploded, according to Indian media. Minister Mandaviya said monthly vaccine output of India has more than doubled since April and it is set to quadruple to over 300 million doses next month.
Nepal had reached procurement agreement with India to purchase 2 million doses of Covishield vaccines. But India was able to supply only 1 million of the vaccines.
