Indian Consulate in Birgunj distributes tarpaulins to storm-affected people in Bara

KATHMANDU, April 3: Consulate General of India in Birgunj has distributed tarpaulins in the storm-affected areas of Bara district on Wednesday.


A team of the officials from the consulate visited the storm-affected families to distribute the relief support. On Tuesday, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said that Indian Embassy in Kathmandu and Consulate in Birgunj were regular in contact with authorities of Nepal for the support in relief and rescue operation.

Expressing sorrow over the loss of life and damage to property in the devastating thunderstorm, the ministry said in a press statement that India was deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life and damage to property in Nepal following the devastating thunderstorm that struck Bara and Parsa districts of Nepal.


"Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who have lost their dear ones, sustained injuries or suffered damage to their property” it had said.


The Indian government also expressed its readiness to provide relief assistance as may be required by Nepal.
