Indian PM, Chinese envoy congratulates Deuba

KATHMANDU, June 7: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese envoy to Nepal have congratulated newly-elected Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

KATHMANDU, June 7: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese envoy to Nepal have congratulated newly-elected Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.



In a telephone coversation Tuesday evening, Indian Prime Minister Modi also wished Deuba for his successful tenure as prime minister as he prepares to take oath of office and secrecy on Tuesday. "While congratulating Deuba for his election as new prime minister, Indian Prime Minister Modi has wished for his sucessesful tenure," said Nepal Press Union (NPU) President Badri Sigdel, who is also a close aide to Deuba.



According to Sigdel, Prime Minister Modi also expressed confidence that the bilateral relations between Nepal and India would reach to a new height during the premiership of Deuba in Nepal.

Chinese ambassador Yu Hong congratulated Deuba for his election as new prime minister of Nepal. According to Sigdel, ambasador Yu had reached to Deuba's residence in Budhanilkantha to congratulate him later Tuesday evening. Yu expressed confidence that the bilateral relations between Nepal and China would be further strengthened during the premiership of Deuba in Nepal.


Talking to mediapersons after his election as the country's 40th prime minister Tuesday afternoon, Prime Minister-elect Deuba said his priority would be to further strengthen bilateral relations with Nepal's immediate neighbors, India and China. "I would like to strengthen bilateral relations with India as well as China," Deuba told media persons.
