Dozens of people have died and millions more have been forced from their homes after heavy monsoon floods caused devastation in Nepal, Bangladesh, and northern India. Flooding and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall have killed at least 65 people in Nepal in the past few days, with more deaths reported across the border in India and Bangladesh.

At least 30 other people were missing in Nepal, either swept away by swollen rivers or buried by mudslides since monsoon rains began pounding the region on Friday. Floods have forced more than three million people from their homes across north and northeastern India. Worst affected is the Indian state of Bihar, where some 1.9 million people have fled their homes due to rising waters, a state government release said.


More than 1.7 million people in Assam have been displaced by the floods. In Cox’s Bazar district, shelter to some 700,000 Rohingya refugees who fled violence in neighboring Myanmar, more than 100,000 people have been displaced.
