Infographics : No Consensus for Brexit alternatives

On March 27, MPs were given the chance to vote on eight alternatives to May's negotiated deal with the EU and 'take back control' of the Brexit process. Underlining the deep divisions and current disarray in the House of Commons, they failed completely to grab any of the initiative which had been dangled in front of them by Speaker John Bercow in allowing the votes to take place.

As this infographic shows, none of the proposals gained a majority, with a confirmatory referendum on any Brexit deal receiving the most 'Ayes' and Ken Clarke's custom union proposal coming closest to a majority.
