As suggested in a Monmouth University Poll, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is leading the pack of declared Democratic candidates for the 2020 presidential election. 16 percent of registered Democrats or Democratic-leaning independents said they would vote for the Vermont senator who announced his run today. The poll by the New Jersey University also included candidates who haven’t declared a run yet but are rumored to do so. Former Vice President Joe Biden garnered most support, with 29 percent of surveyed voters saying they would pick him as a candidate. 38 percent of registered voters surveyed said President Donald Trump should be reelected, with 79 percent of Republicans thinking the same.
