From Denver in North America to Tbilisi in Georgia, the past one week saw temperatures being shattered all across the world, as global warming added an edge to heatwaves. A massive heat dome consumed parts of North America. So while Mount Washington tied its minimum warm temperature of 15.5°C on July 2, Motherwell in Scotland was taken by surprise when it recorded its highest temperature of 33.2°C ever on June 28. On June 26, temperatures in Quriyat in Oman soared to record-breaking heights. Over the course of 24 hours, it experienced 42.6°C- a new record for highest “low” temperature.
