KATHMANDU, Nov 11: CCTV cameras have been installed in Thamel, the main tourist destination of the federal capital Kathmandu.
Installation of CC cameras has been started at the initiation of Thamel Tourism Development Council (TTDC). The effort is supported by Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) and Kathmandu Valley Police Office Ranipokhari.
Metropolitan police intensifies CCTV installation drive
Chairman of the TTDC Bhabishwor Sharma said that the installation of CCTV cameras has been started to make this area clean, beautiful, safe and orderly by strengthening peace and security in Thamel area.
According to him, 112 CC cameras will be installed in Lainchaur Marg, Chhetrapati Marg, Nursing Chowk Marg, Bhagwati Bahal Marg, Chaksibari Marg, Sath ghumti Marg, JP Line Marg and Tourism Marg within Thamel.
Earlier, representatives of metropolis Police, Kathmandu Valley Police Office and TTDC had studied the necessary CC cameras in Thamel area.
Vice President of Thamel Tourism Development Council Sahadev Dhamala (Bimal) said that the installation of CC cameras has been progressed under the leadership of the council to control the criminal activities in Thamel area.
Established in 2047 for the development of Thamel area, more than 2,000 house owners and businessmen in Thamel are members of the council. The council has been working in the field of development of Thamel area.
