UDAYAPUR, March 21: The AP Tandem Pro-Workshop, an international-level paragliding training event, has been completed in Belka Municipality of Udayapur. Organized by the Flying Wonders Paragliding School in Pokhara, the training took place at Boptang Danda, a renowned paragliding spot in Belka Municipality-8.

The training was conducted by experienced pilots with extensive commercial paragliding experience in various countries. The participants, who are also professional pilots affiliated with the organizing flying school, received training aimed at enhancing their flying skills and ensuring safety, as stated by Suren Gurung, the chief trainer of the Paragliding School. The training included sessions by foreign coaches Ronald and Abhi Malik, in addition to Coach Gurung's guidance.

Boptang Danda was chosen as the training location due to its suitability for paragliding, according to Gurung. Nineteen trainees from China, Hong Kong, India, and Nepal participated in the training, benefiting from practical exercises and technical knowledge sessions. The organizers mentioned that the trainees will continue practicing at the training ground for further skill development.

The decision to conduct the training in Udayapur stemmed from a previous paragliding accident in Pokhara, which led to the suspension of training activities there. The organizers believe that Udayapur, particularly Boptang Danda, offers a suitable alternative and conducive environment for paragliding activities.

Local pilot Jitendra Roila highlighted the potential of paragliding in promoting tourism in Udayapur and attracting foreign tourists to Nepal. He also mentioned the district's potential for cycling, paragliding, and rafting, making it an ideal destination for tourism promotion.
