INTACH signs deal with Indian Embassy to rebuild Nepal's 11 quake-hit heritage sites

KATHMANDU, Dec 12: The Embassy of India to Nepal on Thursday has signed an agreement with the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), India for the post-earthquake reconstruction of 11 cultural heritage sites in Nepal.

KATHMANDU, Dec 12: The Embassy of India to Nepal on Thursday has signed an agreement with the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), India for the post-earthquake reconstruction of 11 cultural heritage sites in Nepal.


The agreement was signed by the deputy chief of mission at the embassy of India to Nepal Dr Ajay Kumar and member secretary of INTACH Dr C T Mishra. Senior officials from the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) of Nepal and Manjeev Singh Puri, the ambassador of India to Nepal were also present during the occasion.

According to the agreement, INTACH will provide design and project management consultancy services for the reconstruction of 11 cultural heritage sites in four different districts Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and Solukhumbhu.


INTACH will work with the Department of Archeology (DoA) of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepal to reconstruct cultural heritage sites as per the Government of Nepal’s guidelines on the reconstruction of cultural heritage Sites.


INTACH is one of the largest heritage organizations in the world with over 190 chapters across India.
