KATHMANDU, Sept 1: Journalist and film critic Dipendra Lama will make his directorial debut with ‘Ghaampani’ that will feature popular Nepali actors Daya Hang Rai and Keki Adhikari. The movie’s cast and crew were introduced at a press meet organized in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

‘Ghaampani’ will follow a couple’s inter-caste romantic relationship that reaches turbulent heights during the course of the movie. The screenplay is penned by Lama.

Speaking at the press meet, Lama said that journalism and filmmaking share similarities. “Both of them are forms of mass media. And journalists and filmmakers are storytellers aiming to inform their respective audience,” he said.

Though Keki Adhikari and Daya Hang Rai have worked together before, this will be the first time where they will play each other’s love interest. Along with the lead pair, the cast includes Ankeet Khadka, Silsa Jirel, Buddhi Tamang, Prakash Ghimire and Pushkar Gurung.

‘Kabadi’ director Ram Babu Gurung, cinematographer Sailendra D. Karki, Bishwa Gauchan will jointly produce ‘Ghaampani’ with Highlights Nepal and Cinema Art.

“As a film critic, I have evaluated mistakes of many Nepali movies. At least in Ghaampani I will try not to repeat those mistakes,” Lama said.

Lama has previously worked as a screenwriter in 2014’s ‘Nagbeli’.
