KATHMANDU, Oct 23: The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) is going to organize an international conference on reconstruction in Kathmandu from December 7 to 9.
The NRA has successfully completed most of the reconstruction and rehabilitation work of the damage caused by the devastating earthquake on 25 April , 2015 and the subsequent aftershocks. Responsibility for the rest of the work has been handed over to the concerned body. The experience and learning gained in the post-earthquake reconstruction and rehabilitation work has laid the groundwork for fulfilling the national goal of making Nepal safe from disasters.

NRA Chief Executive Officer Sushil Gyawali said that an international conference on reconstruction will be organized to share the experience and learning gained by Nepal in post-earthquake reconstruction and rehabilitation with the support of all.
The main slogan of the international conference is ‘From Reconstruction to Upliftment’. The conference will include research-based presentations on various aspects of private housing reconstruction, cultural heritage reconstruction, public infrastructure reconstruction, livelihood and economic rehabilitation, and good governance, as well as thematic seminars.
NRA Executive Committee Member and International Conference Organizing Committee Coordinator Dr Chandra Bahadur Shrestha said that local and foreign guests, experts and representatives of various organizations have been invited to participate in the conference.
A website targeting the international conference was also launched on Friday. Manohar Ghimire, Joint Spokesperson of NRA and a member of the International Conference Secretariat, said that the new website includes important activities and information related to the conference.
The NRA has requested those interested in participating in the conference to register online.
