Investment promotion essential to solve economic problems: Chief Secretary Dr Aryal

KATHMANDU, June 17: Newly appointed Chief Secretary Dr Baikuntha Aryal has said promotion of investment is essential to solve economic problems.


Capital spending has been prioritized by the government, he said, adding that the economy can be advanced once production is boosted up. Chief Secretary Dr Aryal said the government is ready to cooperate with private sectors for economic development.

He made the remarks with the delegation of Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) at his office on Friday. The CNI team led by its Chairman Bishnu Kumar Agrawal met Dr Aryal and congratulated him on his appointment as Chief Secretary.


Agrawal expressed happiness over Aryal's appointment as Chief Secretary, saying that he was a learned person on finance, industry and commerce. The national economy is facing serious challenges at present, he viewed, underscoring that investment promotion could help make the economy dynamic.


Meanwhile, the government has announced to form a monitoring committee on budget implementation for the coming fiscal year. The CNI delegation suggested to Chief Secretary Dr Aryal on what could be immediate measures to revive financial sectors, infrastructure building, tourism, energy and IT.
