IRD starts investigations against around 2,000 taxpayers suspected of evading taxes of Rs 9.93 billion

KATHMANDU, Aug 2: The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has started investigations against 1,986 taxpayers for their possible involvement in tax evasion.

KATHMANDU, Aug 2: The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has started investigations against 1,986 taxpayers for their possible involvement in tax evasion.


According to the IRD, these taxpayers were suspected to have fake invoices to evade the taxes. “Based on the preliminary investigations carried out by the department, the accused were suspected to have evaded value added tax and income tax, among others,” said an IRD official.

The department has estimated the tax evaded amount of Rs 9.93 billion by the suspected taxpayers.
